Fighting Hepatitis A

Jeff sponsored the state's first law to require that all food handler's be vaccinated against the Hepatitis A virus to protect our families.

Thanks to Jeff's proactive leadership, other communities have followed suit and passed identical laws.

Curbing Road Rage

Touched by the death of a young woman who was killed by an angry driver on Highway 40, Jeff sponsored one of the nation's first "Road Rage" ordinances to keep our streets and highways safe from dangerous drivers. Under Jeff's law, violators will receive a mandatory fine and points on their driver's license. The St. Louis County Police endorsed and supported Jeff's bill. You may have noticed the "STOP ROAD RAGE" bumper stickers on all St. Louis County, MSD and Bi-State vehicles, as well on Mehlville School District buses.

Promoting Safe Schools

Jeff worked to keep our schools safe by promoting programs to teach our children non-violent ways to resolve disputes. Jeff was a promoter of the successful Fight-Free School Program, a locally developed program that is producing results in schools throughout our nation.

Safe Neighborhoods / Police Protection

Jeff led the way in getting improved wages for our internationally acclaimed St. Louis County Police Officers to help retain and attract the best-qualified officers and expand neighborhood policing.

Parental Consent / Violent and Sexually Explicit Videogames

Jeff sponsored and led the effort to pass landmark legislation restricting children's access to violent and sexually explicit games by requiring parental consent before young children can rent or buy these games.
